Own Research
GISA has a Reading Room at the disposal of researchers for conducting their own research. It is open on week days Monday to Friday from 08h00 until 16h00. GISA is open all year round except between Christmas and New Year, and on public holidays. A list of genealogical and family history books which are available in the GISA library can be seen here. The facilities (sources, microfiche readers, computers for research activities etc) are available at the following tariffs:
(a) R20-00 per hour up a maximum of R100-00 per day
From 1 April 2010 the new tariff will be R25-00 per hour up to a maximum of R120-00 per day
OR
(b) R2000 per year.
Members of the GSSA pay R15-00 per day. All other tariffs applicable as for non-members. Members of the GGSA tariff will increase to R20-00 per hour as from the 1 April 2010.
Monies are payable during visit.
Freelance Research
All requests for research are to be directed to one of the below-mentioned freelance researchers here at GISA. The freelance researcher of your choice will then prepare a quotation of the costs involved and will contact you henceforth directly:
